The day after finishing a successful season of Kinky Boots as Lola, Abu was kind enough to spend some time with me to capture these timeless Black and White portraits. There is no special filters or effects, just beautiful light and a creative and expressive subject. This is what timeless portraiture is to me. They come across in stark contrast to his character on stage, so lively and flamboyant, but please keep in mind he had just come off 4 shows in a row and then an after party that left him running on about 1 hours sleep. So no it is not sadness you see, but rather tiredness.
